Installation Underground
Because BEAM travels in a tube that has a 38" outside diameter, installation of the tube can be accomplished by trenching. Trenching is less costly and reduces the need for tunneling.
Where necessary a small diameter TBM or tunnel boring machine can be used to transit through mountains, under water ways or in urban areas.
Installation Above Ground
Where possible in rural areas the BEAM tube can be installed above ground. This would be the most economical method of installation.
cost per mile
The approximate cost to install BEAM's transit tube is $5 to $10 million per mile depending on many factors such as installation method, location and geology.
